Cardiff Bay on Path to Become a Swimming Destination

Nordic Urban is excited to include Cardiff, Wales, into the growing list of cities that are set to have an Allas Pool at their waterfront. On December 15th, Cardiff Council’s Cabinet agreed to lease land for the project at the Mount Stuart graving docks in the Cardiff Bay area.

This enables Nordic Urban to further develop our idea for introducing a partially floating swimming and well-being facility on the currently little-used site. Our goal is to provide residents and visitors a novel experience for interacting with water – all 365 days of the year.

Nordic Urban’s proposal will focus on the area in and around two of the Mount Stuart graving docks.

Our concept includes floating outdoor swimming pools, the opportunity to dip into natural water, saunas, a restaurant with ample outdoor seating areas, multipurpose spaces for indoor events and wellness programming, entertainment & cultural programming, and access to water sports activities.

The proposal aligns with Cardiff’s strategy to further enhance Cardiff Bay as a leading UK destination for leisure, culture, and tourism.

The new Allas Pool will add to the many opportunities for enjoying the popular Cardiff Bay waterfront.
